Trim occupational risk assessment

Version 2026.08.282 min read

This is the written risk assessment the barber agreement says you can read at any time. It is not a second contract. If this page and the agreement differ, the agreement wins.

What this paper is

This is Trim's written risk assessment for home haircut work. The law requires Trim to write it, keep it current, and let you read it. You can open it in the app at any time, and it is also on Trim's public legal pages.

First written 6 August 2026. Last updated 28 August 2026. Owner: Denise Khaandor, Director. Legal basis: Gig Workers Act 2025 section 103(1)(a). It is reviewed at least once a year, or after any serious incident.

Who it covers

Barbers taking jobs through Trim in private homes in the areas Trim currently serves.

Assault or harassment in a home

You work in someone else's house, so this is a real risk. Before your first job you complete Trim's safety training. You check in and check out of every visit. If you feel unsafe, leave. Tap Panic so Ops gets your live location. Leaving an unsafe visit is never treated as a decline, and you are still paid in full.

Working alone

There is usually no witness in the home. Ops can see live jobs. Panic sends your location. A person at Trim picks that up.

Aggressive animals

Ask the customer to put pets away before you start. If they will not, leave. File an incident the same day.

Hostile or drunk customer

Do not stay. Leave, tap Panic if you need to, and tell Trim. After review, Trim can stop sending barbers to that address.

Cuts from blades

You use your own kit and keep it clean and safe. The safety training covers first aid. Tell Trim the same day about any cut or bite, even if it feels small.

Road accidents between jobs

Trim leaves travel time between visits. PERKESO covers your own injury on the way to a job or home. Tell Trim the same day if you have an accident.

Damage in the home

Trim does not hold public liability insurance and does not promise to pay a customer for damaged property. A customer can still make their own claim. Trim will not take that from your pay. Deliberate or grossly careless damage can be treated as conduct.

What to do in an emergency

Leave if you can.

Tap Panic in the app.

Call 999 if you need police, ambulance, or fire.

Tell Ops as soon as you are safe, and file an incident the same day.

Ops flags DOSH when an occupational accident or disease has to be notified.

Training

Safety training is four videos you watch before you can take jobs. You then confirm you understand. That confirmation is stored with a time stamp.
